April 21st and 22nd @ De Anza College Campus
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is creating a huge "buzz" in the Web development community who see it as one of the new technologies ushering in "Web 2.0." AJAX provides a powerful mechanism for building Web applications and interfaces with very rich and efficient browser/client-side interactivity. This new level of interactivity is accomplished with server requests only for the portions of a Web page that are active instead of requests for an entire page. The key components of AJAX include the JavaScript DOM (Document Object Model), the XMLHttpRequest object, XML, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
This two-day workshop will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the technologies behind the AJAX platform. Upon completion, attendees should be able to immediately begin to use AJAX to build highly interactive Web applications and dynamic content.
- An Introduction to the AJAX Platform
- Using XMLHttpRequest to Load XML Content
- Interactions between JavaScript and the XML Document Object Model (DOM)
- The Role of XSLT in AJAX Applications
- Testing AJAX Applications
