** Freelance Opportunity for Motivated Student **

Position Filled

One of the donors of the Krause Center for Innovation is making a digital scrapbook (for print) for a Christmas gift and is looking for some help with the project. She would like to hire someone to do most of the work for her. She will scan all the images to disk, and has written the text that will go with each image on each page. She is looking for someone with some artistic ability to layout each page and make it look pretty and professional and get it ready for print.

Software Skills Necessary: Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, InDesign/Quark/Pagemaker or Word

20-40hrs worth of work

Compensation: Negotiable, and willing to pay a professional rate for a
person who is an experienced professional in Graphic Design and Layout.

You will have 20 minutes to answer the multiple choice, t/f, short answer questions. There will be a colored bar at the top of the test that shows you how much time you have left (which you can hide or show - I'd suggest you leave it there - especially since this is a "real" test!). If you go over the time limit, your test will be automatically submitted.

Intelligent Business Tools, Inc. (IBT) is currently developing the next version of its flagship product: QuickTrac.biz and is looking for qualified intern applicants who are willing to learn real-world web 2.0 programming or advanced IT skills (remote server management, apache, and MYSQL maintenance, etc.).

IBT is a funded start-up company that has successfully completed two years of active developmemt of our current product. We are looking for bright, creative and energetic minds to work with our programmers in developing the next revision of our product and its IT infrastructure.

Don't forget the quiz (worth 10 points) on basic tags this weekend - sometime between 8:00 am Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 and 10:00 pm Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, log on to Etudes Classic and choose Tests. The quiz only takes 20 minutes, so don't stress too much!! Read the directions carefully so you know what you are doing and then follow them! And remember the first rule of the class - remain calm at all times!! ;-)

Sometime between Friday, Oct. 6 at 8:00 am and Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10:00 pm log on to EtudesNG and choose Tests and Quizzes and then choose JavaScript Quiz One (practice). You will have 20 minutes to answer the multiple choice, t/f, short answer questions. There will be a colored bar at the top of the test that shows you how much time you have left (which you can hide or show - I'd suggest you leave it there - especially on the "real" tests!). If you go over the time limit, your test will be automatically submitted. In this quiz, it doesn't matter because you can take it as many times as you like until you feel comfortable with the Etudes NG testing environment!! I will also create a new post in your Forum to discuss the quiz experience.

Over the last decade, web search has grown to be the largest AI-related industry in history, far surpassing the minor booms for Lisp Machines, Expert Systems, and other technologies. This talk reviews AI technologies behind the Web Search industry, and shows how large text corpora and associated computational power are enabling new AI applications.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Peter Norvig is the Director of Research at Google Inc , where he has been since 2001. From 2002-2005 he was Director of Search Quality, which means he was the manager of record responsible for answering more queries than anyone else in the history of the world. He is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and co-author of Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach , the leading textbook in the field (with 94% market share).

Silicon Valley Code Camp

"By and For the Developer Community"

What is Code Camp? Code Camp is a free 2 day conference by and for the developer community. Speakers volunteer their time and everyone attends for free. It's a place to learn, to network and to dig into some code.

Code Camp offers a variety of talks, presentations, interaction opportunitities, etc. by developers for developers. Topics include Ajax, JavaScript, and web-application interfaces from Amazon and Yahoo.
