Free, On-Campus Student Orientation to Etudes

Students who are enrolling in Foothill online courses for the first time are encouraged to attend one of three on-campus sessions of the Student Orientation to Etudes during the first week of the Fall Quarter. Admission is free and you do not need to register for the information session. All sessions will meet in the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) at Foothill College. Attend the session that best suits your schedule:

Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m.;
Wednesday, Sept. 22, from noon to 2 p.m.; or
Thursday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Topics covered in the first hour include:
  • what is Etudes?
  • computer and Web browser requirements
  • how to log in and set up
  • navigating the course website
  • Foothill College details (SSN, CWID, PIN and e-mail address)
  • getting help.
The workshop's second hour with cover how-tos for viewing lectures, completing assignments, participating in class discussions, and taking tests and quizzes. Parking Lot 4 provides easy access to the KCI. A campus parking permit is required at all times. Purchase permit for $2 from dispensers in any student lot.

Register Now for Fall Quarter; Classes Filling Quickly

Foothill College can help you earn a specialized certificate, associate degree or upgrade your current job skills. We can also help you complete the general education course requirements you need to transfer to a four-year university.

Registration is ongoing through Sept. 19. Fall Quarter classes begin the week of Sept. 20 and continue through Dec. 10, unless otherwise listed in the class schedule. You can apply for admission, register for classes, complete the registration process, pay enrollment fees and buy a parking permit online at MyPortal.fhda.edu. You can also review the class schedule and purchase textbooks online at www.foothill.edu. California residents pay $17 per unit for Foothill classes. A full range of student support services is also available, including financial aid, academic counseling, child care (at Foothill's sister campus, De Anza College, in Cupertino) and tutoring.

Anything Goes: Foothill Music Theatre Delivers High Jinks & High Romance on the High Seas
An uproarious musical comedy that features the toe-tapping tunes of Cole Porter, Anything Goes tells the story of the madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. The show spotlights Cole Porter's "deloveliest" hits, including Friendship, I Get a Kick Out of You, All Through the Night, Blow, Gabriel, Blow, You're the Top, It's Delovely and Anything Goes. Award-winning director Jay Manley helms the seafaring shenanigans with musical direction by Catherine Snider and choreography by Dottie Lester-White. FMT's production of Anything Goes runs through Aug. 15 in the Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $26, general; $24, seniors (age 65 and over); $18, students; $10, children under age 10 (parental advisory: This show includes mild sexual content which some parents may fi nd inappropriate for children). New Student & Parent Orientations
Foothill's New Student Orientation is Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College. The event gives first-time freshmen the opportunity to meet fellow students as well as Foothill faculty and staff, tour campus facilities, and hear a welcome message from college leaders. Parents can receive an orientation to Foothill, too. Set for Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 1501, Parent Orientation features strategies to help your college student succeed, student rights and responsibilities, Foothill programs and support services, and financial aid and scholarship information. Auditions for The Winter's Tale
The Foothill College Theatre Arts Department announces auditions for its fall production of The Winter's Tale. Auditions are Sept. 21–22 at 7 p.m. in the Lohman Theatre (Room 8002) at Foothill College. Performers need only attend one audition session and should be prepared to stay for up to three hours. All roles are open and actors of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Roles are available for 14 men, six women and one boy. Cold readings from the script will be assigned and performers should prepare a Shakespearean monologue of up to two minutes. Callbacks are Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m., and rehearsal begins Sept. 28. The show runs Nov. 5–21. Foothill College Theatre Arts Instructor Marcia Frederick will direct Foothill's production of The Winter's Tale. This is a non-equity perfor mance and offers no pay. Parking Lots 1, 7 and 8 provide access to the theatre. Purchase a parking permit for $2 from dispensers in parking lot. The Foothill Repertory Dance Company will hold general auditions Friday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. in the Dance Studio.
