Foothill Middlefield Campus Presents Cash for College Day Feb. 3
Current and potential college students as well as their parents are invited to Foothill College's Cash for College Day Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room J-2 at the Foothill Middlefield Campus in Palo Alto. Reservations are not required; simply attend at a time that is convenient to you. You do not need to stay for the entire event. Admission and parking are free and the public is invited to attend. Foothill’s financial aid professionals will answer individual questions and provide free assistance in English, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Activities include a workshop featuring free, professional assistance to families completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Cal Grant GPA Verification forms that are required in order to apply for Cal Grants and other types of financial aid. This specialty workshop which is designed to walk you through the FAFSA form line by line will be presented at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Students who file individual or joint tax returns should bring their personal income and asset information. Students who are claimed as dependents on a parent's income tax should bring the parent's income and asset information, including 2006 federal income tax return if already prepared; records of other untaxed income such as welfare benefits, Social Security benefits, TANF, veteran's benefits, or military or clergy allowances; and W-2 forms or other records such as check stubs of income earned in 2006. Parents of dependent students are encouraged to also attend Cash for College Day workshops with their student.

New Academic Competitiveness Grant Announced
The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) is a new federal resource for students who completed a rigorous secondary-school program and graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2005. First-year grant recipients receive $750 and second-year recipients receive $1,300 for the academic year.
To be eligible, you must be U.S. citizen enrolled full time in a two- or four-year degree program and receive a federal Pell Grant. There are additional requirements for this need- and merit-based grant.

Low-Cost Oral Health Services for Foothill Students & Community Members
The Foothill College Dental Hygiene Clinic provides low-cost oral health services to Foothill students and the general public. All services are performed by students enrolled in the Foothill Dental Hygiene Program, under the supervision of a licensed dentist and registered dental hygiene instructors.
Clinic services offered include dental cleaning, scaling and root planning (deep cleaning), dental X-rays, sealants, oral cancer screening, amalgam polishing, fluoride treatments, and nutritional counseling. Although the clinic does not provide restorative dentistry such as fillings or crowns, oral or periodontal surgery, or orthodontics, the clinic can provide referrals to private dentists and local dental colleges for follow-up care.
Because clinic appointments are a hands-on training opportunity for Dental Hygiene Program students, expect an appointment to last between three and four hours, depending on the treatment needed. At the first appointment, a thorough medical and dental history is performed. At the end of the appointment, you will be advised of the treatment that is needed, the approximate number of appointments required, and the fee to complete the treatment.
Clinic fees are $30, cleaning with fluoride and/or sealants included if needed; $30, full-mouth and panoramic X-rays; $15, bitewing X-rays; and $5, periapical single films.
Winter Quarter clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The clinic is located in Room 5312. To schedule an appointment, call (650) 949-7335.

Award-winning Foothill Music Theatre (FMT) will produce the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical classic Carousel this summer in the Smithwick Theater. FMT’s Carousel runs July 27 through Aug. 19. Auditions for the production begin in March. Click for audition information or call (650) 949-7417.

Student Introduction to ETUDES NG & Online Learning
Foothill Global Access will be presenting a free one-hour workshop for students
enrolled in a class using ETUDES NG. In the workshop, students will learn how to log in to their NG courses, how to perform typical online class activities, and how to troubleshoot problems.
If you are taking a class that uses Etudes NG, I encourage you to attend. No special registration is required--just show up at the Krause Center for Innovation, room 4004, before 12 noon on Wednesday. Here are more details on the workshop:

Welcome to Winter Quarter 2007! You can still add classes via the Foothill online registration system through Jan. 19.
Follow these steps to add a class after the quarter has started.
1. Attend the first class meeting;
2. If the instructor agrees to admit you to the class, collect an authorization code from the course instructor;
3. Access the online registration system;
4. Follow the instructions to complete late registration; and
5. Pay fees in full within five days or you will be dropped from all your classes. Pay fees online or in person at the Admissions Office in Room 1929.
