** COIN 70a JavaScript Students **

From the Etudes NG staff:
As you may have noticed on Monday, we experienced a slowdown in ETUDES NG performance especially with the Discussion tool. ETUDES Project staff worked diligently throughout the day and into the night to remedy the problem and now it appears that ETUDES NG is running much more quickly today.

Some students may have been unable to login or participate in Discussion forums on Monday.

PLEASE
be sure to change your browser's cache settings per instructions in
red on the Etudes Gateway (scroll to bottom half of http://etudes-ng.fhda.edu/portal) webpage in order to get optimal performance.
There is also a Student Help Desk which can help with NG problems or you can call this number: 650-949-7446

Good luck! Email me if you have any login problems so I know what's going on.

Take Placement Tests Now for Success Later

Taking placement tests early in your college career has proven to be a successful way to reach your educational goals. Research demonstrates that students who take placement tests and complete their English and Math courses early in their college career have a higher chance of reaching their academic goal. So don’t wait! Sign up for your placement tests in English and Math now by visiting the placement Web site, available on the Foothill College homepage at www.foothill.edu, or directly at www.foothill.edu/placement.

Consider Middlefield Campus, Afternoon and Evening Classes for Fall 2006

As Fall Quarter approaches, some of the most popular classes in prime-time spots are full. If you are having difficulty finding a class in the busy morning hours on the Foothill campus, consider that Foothill offers many classes in the early afternoon and evening times. In addition, the Foothill Middlefield Campus, located near the intersection of Middlefield Road and San Antonio at the Cubberly Community Center in Palo Alto, offers convenient access, free parking and many popular classes. Look in the online or printed schedule for the MC notation under location. Remember, fall quarter classes begin Sept. 25 and registration is ongoing. Don’t wait until the last minute.

Legal Precedent Set for Web Accessibility

Advocates for the disabled won a major victory yesterday, when a federal judge in California ruled that the ADA applies to the Internet. Specifically, to Internet retailers. The National Federation of the Blind brought the suit against Target, whose online store has serious obstacles for disabled, particularly vision impaired, users. This is a major ruling on the ADA, and will have serious ramifications throughout the Web. But it's critical to making the enormous potential of the Web accessible to everyone.
