** Connection / Other Problems?? **

For the last 2 days, my ISP (Sprint) has been having outages. My connection sort of "drifts" in and out, which, as you can imagine, is very frustrating, especially when I am trying to grade your midterms! Luckily for me, they have "engineers working to solve the problem ...".

Just recently, I have also noticed that the Krypton server is not responding either. It could be a power outage at Foothill, or who knows???

Whatever the problem(s) are, I thought this would be a good opportunity to remind all of you that near the end of the term, we are likely to have machine failures and power outages. Any time there is major stress (like end of term projects due and finals), servers go down, power goes out, disks fail. So take a bit of time now to prepare yourself for possible coming disaster and make some backups of what you have done so far - and keep making them so that if anything happens, you'll be covered. Remember, you always want to look confident, competent and in control.

Since your CTIS web space will be deleted after finals to prepare for Summer term, you might also want to investigate an alternative web space if you don't have one already. Begin moving the work that you have done so far to that space and continue to "mirror" your CTIS web space so you'll have it to show future employers. If for some reason, you can't get space on a live server, be sure to keep backups of your work so you can demonstrate your skills from a CD or thumb, flash, or jump drive.
