** IT Specialist at Foothill **

The Research Experience Program (REP) that runs between Foothill College's BSS Division and IRiSS at Stanford University has an opening for someone to be our computer cluster coordinator up at Foothill College. We have about 20 researcher laptops at Foothill that need to be set and reset each quarter for our different experimenters, as well as be maintained, and a wireless system that we want to hook up to our research rooms.

If you are interested in earning money performing IT specialist work, we are
looking to hire someone interested in becoming the Foothill College systems administrator for the Stanford Research Experience Program (REP). This position is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how human subjects research is conducted and how technology plays an integral role!

Applicants must be qualified to help configure and manage a network of Windows laptops for the Research Experience Program (subsidiary of the Institute of Research in the Social Sciences at Stanford University). The Pay Rate is: $20/Hour. Position starts immediately.

Applicant would be expected to help in the following ways:

  • configure Windows laptop system and install software on a series of computers using
  • disk imaging software (e.g. Ghost, Deep Freeze).
  • configure and administer a local wireless networking system for cluster laptops at Foothill College.
  • manage and update disk image(s) as necessary based on changing needs of program and researcher requirements.
  • insure problems with laptops are dealt with quickly including troubleshooting and re-imaging as necessary.
  • applicant should have expert knowledge of Windows XP including Windows networking, software application installation, and customized boot setups-- knowledge of multiple user accounts and/or boot volumes a plus.

The ideal candidate would have an interest in the technical aspects of managing a large, remote cluster of computers but also have an academic interest in the conduct of human subjects research and how data is collected from various subject populations.
